Junior Data Engineer
Downtown Cincinnati
Hybrid Role
$27 - $38 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer to join their dynamic team in downtown Cincinnati. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates with up to 18 months of experience who are eager to develop their skills in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and systems. As a Junior Data Engineer, you will work closely with Product Owners, data analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, high-quality, and well-documented. You will operate under the guidance of experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience in both cloud and on-premises environments, and contributing to the bank's data engineering initiatives in a collaborative, Agile setting.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Curate data elements and document data lineage in specified repositories
  • Manage data storage and ensure data quality across platforms
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes, moving data between cloud-based and on-premises sources
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, data analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data solutions
  • Write scripts and code to automate data processes and improve efficiency
  • Develop and maintain data models and transformation logic using DBT in both cloud and on-premises environments
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and reviews, and contribute to team deliverables
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 0-18 months of experience in a data engineering or related role
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java)
  • High level of proficiency using SQL, including strong understanding of joining data and query optimization
  • In-depth understanding of databases, data warehousing concepts, and ETL technologies (e.g., DataStage, dbt)
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Snowflake or AWS
  • Understanding of big data technologies, including curation, data lineage, and data mesh concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in Agile team environments
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of experienced engineers
