BAE Systems is seeking an entry level Weld Process Engineer I to support our weekend Shift Weld Operations with processes for new welded assemblies as well as supporting continuous improvement efforts on existing products. Standard hours for this position is Friday-Sunday 5 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
This exciting opportunity offers the ability to learn and implement cutting edge welding technology, thereby making a real difference in the success of BAE Systems.
In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business onsite at our Aiken, SC facility.
As a Weld Process Engineer I, you will:
  • Working under general supervision, you will have the opportunity to perform professional technical work that involves basic knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing concepts, techniques and practices.
  • Contribute to design review and provide feedback to ensure producibility of welded assemblies.
  • Support weld relevant projects and work under general supervision.
  • Provide production support of weld and weld support processes. This includes deox, sandblast, mig and tig processes for aluminum and steel based on engineering drawings.
  • Document processes in routings within the Oracle ERP system and collaborate with Work Instruction Authors to provide clear and concise Standard Work Instructions.
  • Assist in providing effective and timely production engineering support to address technical issues.
  • Support continuous improvement opportunities to positively impact Quality and Cost metrics.
  • Support the world class safety performance and culture at BAE Systems by actively seeking to improve workplace safety and ergonomics.

Required Skills and Education
  • This position typically requires an associate's degree (e.g., Manufacturing Technology, Weld Engineering, Applied Technology, Welding Degree, etc.) and 2 years' experience; High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years' experience; or a relevant bachelor's degree with no experience.
  • Must be able to work a weekend shift Friday through Sunday (5AM-5:30PM)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints
  • Familiar with the following weld processes GMAW & GTAW
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy to include MS Office applications including Word and Excel.
