Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician I will assist in performing routine maintenance tasks across all The Salvation Army properties in Orange County. This entry-level position supports the overall maintenance and upkeep of facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment.

Essential Functions

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, minor plumbing repairs, and general building upkeep, including custodial duties and event setup and teardown as needed.
  • Assist senior maintenance staff with more complex repairs and projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and work orders.
  • Assist in managing maintenance supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, walk roofs and perform jobs from scaffolding, when necessary.
  • Provide regular status reports to Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor[PB1.1][CD1.2] regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress; report all incidents of property damage immediately
  • Perform other duties as required by the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor.

PAY RATE: $21.00-$22.00/hr.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • GED or high school diploma
  • 1-2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field is preferred
  • Any relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • A criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
  • Must have ability to work with, direct, and relate well with co-workers, community members, and guests/clients.
  • Able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
  • Must possess good relationship skills.
  • Attention to detail, quality and professionalism
