Job description

Do you take pride in keeping things running smoothly? Utz Quality Foods is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Helper to join our corporate facilities team in Hanover, PA. This is a hands-on, entry-level maintenance role where you'll support the upkeep, repair, and day-to-day functionality of our facilities, from minor electrical and plumbing repairs to furniture setups and preventive maintenance inspections.

You'll work directly under the Corporate Facilities Manager and periodically travel to Utz facilities across the country to provide on-site maintenance support. Responsibilities:

  • Assist with routine maintenance and basic repairs including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and patching
  • Support preventive maintenance programs - complete checklists, inspect equipment, and report issues before they become bigger problems
  • Respond to work orders and maintenance requests for lighting, doors, walls, ceilings, flooring, furniture, and other facility assets
  • Help set up offices, conference rooms, and common areas - moving furniture, assembling equipment, and hanging items
  • Travel to Utz facilities across the US (approximately 25% of the time, including overnight stays) to provide on-site maintenance and facilities support
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and basic test equipment safely and correctly
  • Support vendor and contractor visits by escorting guests, signing for deliveries, and providing on-site logistical support
  • Keep tools, supplies, and work areas clean and organized; flag when materials need to be restocked
  • Complete maintenance logs, work order updates, and documentation accurately and on time
  • Follow all safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety standards; report unsafe conditions immediately

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, general labor, or a related trade (manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus)
  • Comfortable with domestic travel, including overnight stays, approximately 25% of the time
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record are required
  • Vocational training or coursework in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or a related trade is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems
  • Prior experience in food manufacturing, snack production, or a GMP-regulated environment is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and basic maintenance equipment
  • Strong attention to detail with good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly; work at heights from ladders or lifts as needed
  • Able to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work safely with supervision
  • Comfortable completing basic documentation and using mobile or computer-based work order systems
