Job description

The Summer/Fall Seasonal Naturalist supports the efforts of North Chagrin Nature Center staff with educational programs, summer camps, animal care, gardening, hosting, office work, cleaning, and other duties as assigned. This position is based at North Chagrin Nature Center and supports other Cleveland Metroparks locations including Acacia Reservation, South Chagrin Reservation and Euclid Creek Reservation.This is a short-term, entry-level opportunity designed to help candidates develop professional skills in the field of Outdoor Experiences.

  1. Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required. Weekend availability is essential.
  2. Provides outdoor recreation and educational programs that serve to enhance Cleveland Metroparks conservation, education and outdoor recreation mission and to promote environmental education and stewardship.
  3. Assists with outdoor recreation and environmental education programs within the park district and at off-site locations.
  4. Participates in special events or projects as assigned.
  5. Demonstrated organizational skills including verbal communication, problem solving, and conflict management.
  6. Drives Park District vehicles to transport equipment as required.
  7. Assists in maintaining and prepping equipment and program materials.
  8. Performs light maintenance functions.
