EMERGENCY TECHNICIAN JOB SUMMARY:
Under close/general supervision by licensed personnel the Emergency Department (ED) Technician/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will perform a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care in the Rapid Care or emergency medical setting.
REQUIREMENTS:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Proof of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification from an approved institution program or CA Paramedic License.
· Phlebotomy Certified Preferred but not required. Paramedic licensed allows phlebotomy in their scope of practice.
· Current BLS Card certification from the American Heart Association.
· Training and experience: Unless otherwise indicated, one year of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification required.
· Maintenance of current Basic Life Support for HealthCare Workers.
· Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
· Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
· Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed.
· Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.
· Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
· Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
· Ability to understand medical/surgical terminology.
· Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite. Accurate and timely keyboarding skills, including word processing and data entry.
· Proven ability to organize time and tasks.
· Proven ability to work within multiple departments, receiving direction from multiple sources.
· Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
