The Opportunity: The Diagnostics Partnering organization drives Roche Diagnostics partnerships including R&D, technology, biomarker, digital and commercial deals of every deal type, world-wide. Currently, the Diagnostics Partnering group in Pleasanton, CA, USA has a Partnering Lead position available on the Diagnostics Partnering Strategy and Transactions team. This opportunity may be staffed in either Pleasanton, CA or Tucson, AZ, USA (must be able to work onsite). The Diagnostics Partnering organization drives Roche Diagnostics partnerships, including R&D, technology, biomarker, digital, and commercial deals of every deal type, worldwide.

Your responsibilities as Global Diagnostics Partnering Strategy & Transactions Lead:WANT - Define external growth strategy

Define external growth strategy Lead squad teams to identify strategic opportunities that align with and contribute to Roche Diagnostics strategy. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define strategic \"WANTs\" and target product profiles (TPPs).

FIND - Identify and Prioritize Partnership Opportunities

Identify and Prioritize Partnership Opportunities Build and maintain strong internal and external networks to source a continuous flow of high-potential partnership opportunities. Partner with technology and business teams to systematically screen for relevant technologies, products, companies, and digital solutions. Evaluate and prioritize opportunities based on strategic fit, financial feasibility, and business modeling against defined \"WANTs\" and TPPs.

GET - Negotiate and Secure Partnerships

Lead the structuring and negotiation of complex agreements, including licensing, R&D, and commercial collaborations. Collaborate and co-lead M&A transactions with Group Business Development. Direct cross-functional due diligence to ensure opportunities align with strategic \"WANTs\" and TPPs. Prepare and present objective business recommendations to senior management and governance bodies.

MANAGE - Manage Transition

Establish a business relationship and facilitate a seamless hand-over to Partnering Alliances & Ecosystem Management chapter members following execution of the partnership or transaction

Who you are:
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business, or a related field, preferably at a PhD, JD, or MBA level.
  • A minimum of 5-7+ years of previous experience or background in business or corporate development, strategy consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or a related field is required.
  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, business or a related field, ideally at a PhD, JD or MBA level
  • Experience or background in business or corporate development, strategy consulting, venture capital, investment banking or related is required
  • Broad knowledge and track record ideally across various types of business partnerships and/ or transactions including M&A, Licensing, R&D, and Commercial Collaboration agreements
  • Solid understanding of the Diagnostics industry, including lifecycle processes, development, and global business development trends.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills including a track record of managing multiple high-performing cross-functional teams and projects
  • Experience in applying agile principles to project teams and commercial collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting, finance & financial modeling
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with ability to distill problems/ proposals into clear and succinct mgmt/governance bodies decision documents
  • Ability to build sustainable relationships with internal/external stakeholders through engendering trust and a collaborative mindset

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of California, is $150,900-$280,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
