Title:  Radiologic Technologist
Location:  Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Contract: 13 weeks
Schedule: 10 hour nights (20hr/week) Thursday and Friday's 2030-0630 OR Friday and Saturdays 2030-0630
Requirements: 2+ years experience | -ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology. -Current State of WI license as a Radiographer. -American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent.

The Froedtert & MCW health network, which includes five hospitals, more than 1,700 physicians and nearly 40 health centers and clinics, draws patients from throughout the Midwest and the nation.

Duties

Job Summary: -At the direction of a radiologist or other providers, prepares patients and performs radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology and operates imaging equipment. -Performs diagnostic studies according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols while utilizing appropriate radiation protection measures. -Adheres to organizational customer service standards and supports the organizational excellence initiatives. -Provides positive and effective interaction and communication with patients, visitors, and staff. -Performs ancillary services and assists in patient care areas as necessary. -Other duties as assigned. -Performs radiologic/fluoroscopic procedures accurately and efficiently with the least amount of discomfort to the patient. -Explains exam to patient. -Interviews patient to obtain personal medical history, documenting this information into RIS. -Provides clear explanation and instruction to patient. -Assists patient throughout exam. -Thanks patient at conclusion of exam. -Provides radiation protection to self and patients in accordance with ALARA and follows other prescribed safety standards (OSHA, PPE, hand washing etc.). -Appropriately positions patient and selects technical factors to produce images of maximum diagnostic quality, with minimal repeats. -Ensures correct image identification, including placement of ID markers and proper annotation. -Reviews each study for technical accuracy. -Work in partnership with other staff to ensure appropriate scheduling and throughput of exams. -Assists in transporting of patients, as needed. -Communicates and collaborates with radiologists and ordering providers during exams and for guidance on protocols and order clarification. -Approves images, matches orders to images and archives to PACS. -Performs PACS reconciliations accurately and completely in a timely manner. -Documents fluoro time and estimated skin exposure for fluoro studies. -Demonstrates proficiency of EPIC. -Follows EPIC workflow from order entry/verification to end exam including notes, medication documentation and supply charges where applicable, in a comprehensive and timely manner. -Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling reassignment and shift rotations to support departmental needs (including weekend, call and holiday rotations as applicable). -Proactively looks for additional opportunities throughout the department to increase efficiency and provide a more cohesive work environment. -Routinely offers assistance to others, including but not limited to, preparing exam room for next patient, stocking supplies and linens and maintaining a clean staff work area. -Provide a positive teaching and learning environment for staff, students/interns, providers and visitors. -Acts as a mentor and role model. -Assists in onboarding of new employees. -Observes malfunctioning equipment and follows proper procedure to report equipment issues. -Follows proper procedure to report equipment issues. -Provides minor troubleshooting.

Skills

Required Skills & Experience: -One year of current clinical experience OR clinical student experience. -Self-motivated. -Ability to organize and prioritize well. -Ability to remain flexible and to reorganize priorities when emergencies arise. Preferred Skills & Experience: -One year of current clinical experience in diagnostic radiology.

Education

Required Education: -Post high school completion of an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology program. Preferred Education: -An additional 1-2 years of college/university coursework and/or an undergraduate degree in a healthcare related field. Required Certifications & Licensure: -ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology. -Current State of WI license as a Radiographer. -American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent.
