Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.

Founded more than 75 years ago as a community hospital, today we operate three clinics, 24/7 emergency services, inpatient and outpatient medical/surgical services. About The Job:
Assists in the transition from paper medical records to a new EMR system. The primary focus is the accurate extraction and entry of PAMI+P data (Past Medical, Family, Social History; Allergies; Medications; Immunizations; and Procedures) to ensure physicians have immediate, reliable access to critical patient history at the point of care.
Hours: Hours are Flexible with being a PRN Position.
Shift: Sunday through Saturday.
Pay: $21.00, increases with experience.
Position Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management (HIM), Nursing (LPN/RN), or at least 5 years experience in related clinical field.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in medical record abstraction, clinical data entry, or medical coding or other related clinical field.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision is necessary to catch transcribing errors.
  • Medical Terminology: Deep understanding of medical terminology, pharmacology (to recognize brand/generic meds), and anatomy.
    • Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes:
      • Familiarity with computer applications in healthcare.
      • Prior experience with EMR "Go-Live" or paper-to-digital migration projects.
