Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. 


  • Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice.โ€ฏ

  • Identifiesโ€ฏnursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.โ€ฏ 


  • Registered Nurse plans individualized patient care whileโ€ฏutilizingโ€ฏan interdisciplinary approach.โ€ฏ 


  • Participates in performance improvement activities.โ€ฏ 


  • Providesโ€ฏcare and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospitalโ€™s mission and vision statement.โ€ฏ 


  • When acting inโ€ฏchargeโ€ฏnurseโ€ฏrole, registered nursesโ€ฏare responsible forโ€ฏday-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.โ€ฏ 


  • Make staff assignments based on patient need,โ€ฏacuityโ€ฏand the skill of the staff.โ€ฏ 


  • Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff.โ€ฏRespond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.โ€ฏ 


What you will do in this role:โ€ฏ 


As the Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant Registered Nurse, you will deliver phenomenal care for adult hematologic-oncology, autologous and allogeneic blood and marrow transplantation patients, and patients receiving CAR T-cell therapy.โ€ฏ 


In this role, youโ€ฏwill be askedโ€ฏtoโ€ฏprovideโ€ฏthe following services: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration and management, including investigational protocols, Transfusion of blood,โ€ฏplateletsโ€ฏand fresh frozen plasma.โ€ฏ 


You willโ€ฏbe responsible forโ€ฏthe management of patients with radiation implants, central venous access devices and spinal drains.โ€ฏ 


We specialize in Hematology Oncology and Transplant Cellular Therapy including stem cell transplants and CAR T-cell therapies. The patients here are more long term as we give them high dose chemotherapy and transplants that require a recovery period. You will give lots of blood transfusions, IV medications & electrolyte replacements, chemotherapy, and research medications that we hope will be the cure for cancer one day. We recognize that oncology is a highly specialized skill and only float our oncology nurses between the medical oncology and BMT unit, as these two units are โ€œclosed floating sister units.โ€โ€ฏ 


What qualifications you will need: 


  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within30 days of employment start date 


  • Registered Nurse license


  • ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate Provider, or ONS Chemo / Biotherapy Fundamentals Provider, or Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
