Ingevity's Engineering Co-op is structured around two-three rotations ranging in average length from three-six months per term. Each Co-op term is typically separated with an academic term in between to allow for mutual learning and application of engineering concepts both to your academic and real-world learning. Candidates who apply should be available for multiple terms and should consult with their academic advisor on their availability and ability to participate in such a program.
Ingevity's co-ops are on-site full-time positions and participants should expect to work Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8AM-5PM. Specific norms around working hours may vary based on occasional project assignments and will be communicated by your manager.
Ingevity is hiring a Fall 2026 co-op for the Covington, Virginia location.
Anticipated start dates for Ingevity's co-ops are within the following periods:
- Fall 2025:August/September
What will you gain in the Engineering Co-op Program?
- Hands on engineering experience in the chemical and materials manufacturing industry with focuses in process/project and production engineering.

What you need to succeed:
- Students currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree granting program with a major in Engineering with an expected graduation date from May 2027 to May 2028 (or academic sophomore or junior).
- Students should have completed at least onesemester/quarter/trimesterof engineering coursework related to their major before starting as a co-op and at least onesemester/quarter/trimesterof study left in their academic coursework following the co-op.
- Students available to complete at least two co-op terms with one semester of study in between (i.e. co-op in Summer, go back to school in Fall and return to co-op in Spring)
- Remain in good academic standing in your program of study throughout the co-op experience
This role is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. The successful candidate must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous internship(s), work experience, or academic/club leadership experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
- Bachelor's degree majors in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Availability to complete three co-op rotations each separated by a semester of study in between
