Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: This is an onsite position at our Tacoma, WA location!

The Power Platform Developer is a business partner and builder based at Frontier's Tacoma, WA headquarters, working on-site in person. This role works directly with product owners across the business to identify what should be developed and why, helps shape and prioritize a backlog, and then designs, builds, and maintains applications across the full Microsoft Power Platform suite — Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, and Dataverse. The role is also expected to bring AI capabilities into that development work, using AI tools to speed up delivery and improve the quality of what gets built. This position expands on business-partner work currently shared informally among IT leadership and takes on more direct ownership of that relationship for each supported product owner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the primary IT development partner for one or more product owners, proactively engaging with them rather than waiting for fully formed requests.

• Create and maintain a prioritized development backlog in conjunction with each product owner, balancing new builds against enhancements to existing solutions.

• Help define requirements and prioritize features based on business partner input, translating business needs into clear development requirements.

• Assist in documenting current-state and future-state workflows and processes to support prioritization, scoping, and change management.

• Facilitate regular check-ins with product owners to review progress, gather feedback, and re-prioritize as business needs evolve.

• Design, develop, and maintain canvas, model-driven, and code-based (REACT) apps in Power Apps to support sales, operations, warehouse, project management, and back-office workflows.

• Build and optimize Power Automate flows (cloud, desktop/RPA, and business process flows) to automate approvals, notifications, and data movement.

• Develop Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards, including data modeling, DAX measures, and row-level security.

• Architect and manage Dataverse environments, including tables, relationships, security roles, and business rules.

• Build and maintain external-facing or partner portals using Power Pages where needed.

• Integrate Power Platform solutions with SharePoint, Outlook/Exchange, Microsoft Teams, Dynamics 365, SQL Server, and the Agility ERP (via CSV export/import, given no current API).

• Apply Microsoft 365 / Entra ID security and governance practices, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and environment strategy (dev/test/prod).

• Apply AI capabilities — such as Copilot Studio, AI Builder, and Copilot features within Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI — to accelerate development and improve solution quality; stay current on new AI capabilities as Microsoft releases them.

• Document solutions, provide user training, and offer ongoing support and troubleshooting for deployed applications.

• Maintain consistent and dependable attendance and support business needs through schedule flexibility when required.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• 3+ years of hands-on development experience across Power Apps (canvas and model-driven) and Power Automate.

• Working experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, report/dashboard design) and Dataverse (or Common Data Service).

• Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 administration concepts, SharePoint architecture, and Entra ID (Azure AD) fundamentals.

• Experience with connectors, custom connectors, and REST/OData API integration.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated ability to work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, build a backlog, and prioritize competing requests — this role is expected to help shape what gets built, not just build what it is told.

• Genuine curiosity about AI and a track record of using AI tools (for example, Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude) to work faster or solve problems more effectively.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to non-technical stakeholders and facilitating requirements discussions.

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and milestones.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Good judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Power Pages (portal development) and Power Virtual Agents / Copilot Studio.

• Hands-on experience building AI-infused Power Platform solutions (Copilot Studio agents, AI Builder models, Power BI Copilot, AI-driven Power Automate flows).

• Microsoft certifications such as PL-100 (Power Platform App Maker), PL-200 (Functional Consultant), PL-400 (Developer), or PL-600 (Solution Architect).

• Familiarity with SQL Server, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, or C#/.NET.

• Experience in construction, manufacturing, or distribution environments.

• Prior experience integrating with ERP systems.

• Prior experience as a business analyst, product owner, or similar bridge role between IT and business units.
