Job description

The President Abraham Lincoln Springfield - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is looking for a Cook II to join their Culinary team!  This 310-room property is located just a short walk from Bank of Springfield Center and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library. Illinois State Museum, Knights Action Park, and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport are less than 15 minutes' drive away.

The ideal candidate will have previous culinary production experience and exhibit progressive career growth, a self-driven work ethic with heavy attention to detail and cleanliness and a positive and professional approach to hospitality. This is a fantastic opportunity to refine your culinary skills and expand your knowledge in a creative atmosphere

The ideal Cook II candidate brings strong culinary skills, reliability, and professionalism to Lindsay's Restaurant inside the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield DoubleTree by Hilton. They thrive in a polished hotel kitchen environment, consistently preparing the hearty Midwestern dishes guests expect while supporting the restaurant's casual yet presidential dining experience. A great Cook II ensures quality, efficiency, and guest satisfaction in every plate served.


What will I be doing?

As a Cook II, you would be responsible for preparing hot and cold food items in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Prepare cold and hot food items including, but not limited to, salads, fruits, dressings, fish items, appetizers, sandwiches and burgers, and side items according to designated recipes and quality standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation standards at all times
  • Manage guest orders in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure knowledge of menu and food products
  • Stock and maintain designated food stations(s)
  • Visually inspect all food sent from the kitchen
  • Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures according to federal, state, local and company regulations
