Job description

Job Summary

EdgeConneX is seeking a Senior Integration Engineer to build, engineer and maintain the enterprise integration fabric connecting the company's operational platforms, cloud services, and corporate systems. This is a technical role that sits at the junction of application, infrastructure, and business process -- responsible for the quality and reliability of data flows across in-house applications (EdgeOS application suite) as well as numerous COTS SaaS applications such as (but not limited to) BI, ERP, HRIS, FinOps tooling, ITSM platforms, and reporting applications. The role also includes configuration and administration of enterprise applications as needed.

This role ensures that enterprise systems communicate securely, efficiently, and at scale. Automate everything, automate everywhere is a prime directive.

The ideal candidate is comfortable with application integration patterns and writing the code or configuration to implement them. While ideal to be local to our Herndon, VA HQ, we are willing to consider remote if not local assuming there's comfort with quarterly travel to Northern Virginia and potentially abroad to the Netherlands.

ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Integration Platform
  • Build and support the integrations across EdgeConneX's enterprise systems portfolio -- including ERP, HRIS, FinOps tooling, ITSM, and in-house operational platforms (EdgeOS application suite).
  • Build, test, and deploy Mulesoft APIs, flows and transformations
  • Design and implement scalable, secure data flows using REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven patterns, ETL pipelines, and middleware platforms.
  • Establish integration standards, reusable patterns, and governance frameworks to prevent point-to-point sprawl and technical debt.
  • Evaluate and select integration platforms, iPaaS solutions, and middleware tooling aligned with the company's multi-cloud environment.
  • Enable the management of company master data by connecting the MDM platform to company applications.
  • Partner with the Director of Cloud Services & Hybrid Infrastructure to ensure FinOps data pipelines meet accuracy, latency, and governance requirements.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and IT business owners to translate process requirements into technical integration designs.
Automation & Workflow Engineering
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and pipelines (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to streamline data transfers, system events, and operational workflows.
  • Build and govern CI/CD pipelines for integration deployments -- ensuring reliable, testable, and auditable releases.
  • Identify and eliminate manual data handoffs across business systems through structured automation initiatives.
  • Ability to quickly ramp up and learn LC/NC automation platforms such as UiPath, Blue Prism, and Workato.
Monitoring, Reliability & Documentation
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for all integration pipelines -- ensuring rapid detection and resolution of data flow failures.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all integrations: data dictionaries, flow diagrams, data lineage, API contracts, and runbooks.
  • Lay down the foundation for next gen AI/ML applications to consume and use data from existing applications.
Administrate Enterprise Systems
  • Assist in routine system administration of enterprise systems (ERP, HRIS, etc.), such as add/remove users, update user access, update system records, etc.
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years in enterprise integration engineering, systems architecture, or a related technical role with progressive scope.
  • 2+ years experience with iPaaS or middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, UiPath, Workato). Direct and relevant MuleSoft API development experience will make a candidate stand out.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing REST and SOAP API integrations across heterogeneous enterprise systems.
  • Experience integrating ERP, HRIS, ITSM, and/or FinOps platforms in a multi-cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation languages: Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash.
  • Working knowledge of ETL patterns, event-driven architectures, and message queue systems (e.g., Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS, Kafka).
  • Strong understanding of data security, access control, and zero-trust integration principles.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into concrete, documented technical designs.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, infrastructure, and business stakeholder groups.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in data center, critical facilities, or industrial/OT environments -- or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn domain-specific operational systems.
  • Hands-on experience with FinOps tooling (eg Apptio, Azure Cost Management) and cost data pipelines.
  • Experience in administrating enterprise back-office business systems - NetSuite, Coupa, Rippling, BlackLine, IronClad, etc.
  • Experience in integrating Rippling, ADP, or comparable HRIS platforms with downstream financial and operational systems.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or comparable ITSM platforms and their integration capabilities.
  • Experience with AI-powered agentic coding as well as Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) for deploying integration infrastructure.
  • Exposure to AI/ML pipeline architectures and data preparation workflows for intelligent operations.
  • Experience with Agile/DevOps practices at scale.
