What is a contract UXO?

Contract UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) technicians are professionals hired on a contractual basis to detect, identify, and safely dispose of unexploded ordnance, such as bombs, shells, and other munitions. They primarily work on former military sites, construction areas, or land development projects where there is a risk of encountering hazardous munitions. Their responsibilities include site assessment, clearance operations, and ensuring safety protocols are followed to protect workers and the public. Contract UXO technicians are usually highly trained and certified, often with a background in the military or specialized UXO training programs.

To thrive as a Contract UXO Technician, you need a solid understanding of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) principles, military or civilian UXO certifications, and relevant field experience. Familiarity with detection equipment, GPS systems, mapping software, and adherence to safety protocols are critical technical requirements. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential soft skills for this role.
