Northside Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered educator to join our team as a 2nd Grade Teacher for the 2026 2027 school year. We are looking for a collaborative professional committed to academic excellence, relationship-building, and meeting the needs of all learners through high-quality instruction and evidence-based literacy practices.
Job Summary- Teach the curriculum of St. James Public Schools aligned to Minnesota Academic Standards.
- Carry out responsibilities as defined by the master contract.
- Carry out responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
- Maintain positive communication and cooperative relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to respond to student learning needs.
- Utilize assessment data to guide instruction and intervention practices.
- Demonstrate continued professional growth through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded professional development.
- Implement structured literacy practices aligned to the Minnesota READ Act.
- Support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth of all students.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Licensed by the State of Minnesota to teach Elementary Education.
- Strong general academic background.
- Ability to relate positively to students, staff, families, and community members.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of structured literacy and evidence-based reading instruction.
- Completion of, participation in, or willingness to complete Minnesota READ Act approved professional development, including:
- LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling)
- CAREIALL (Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement Advancing Language and Literacy)
- OL&LA (Online Language and Literacy Academy)
- Experience collaborating within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Experience using student data to guide instruction and interventions.
- Experience working with multilingual learners and diverse student populations is preferred.
