What You Will Do
General firefighting work in combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires and protecting life and property. Acts as a professional member of the pre-hospital emergency care team in providing proper comprehensive basic life support treatment, care, and transportation.
Pratt & Whitney Fire/Rescue, West Palm Beach, Florida is searching for an energetic, experienced, and talented State of Florida Firefighter, who is either State of Florida certified or is a National Registered Paramedic. The team of service professionals is engaged in fire prevention and risk mitigation efforts while delivering fire service response and Advanced Life Support/EMS patient care across an industrial manufacturing facility in Jupiter, Florida.
  • Provide fire suppression, emergency medical response, utilize protocols based on basic life support treatment and transport of the sick or injured as well as provide prevention activities
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures in accordance with U.S. DOT EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum, National Registry EMT, and State of Florida standards for EMT and State of Florida recertification requirements.
  • To gain advanced knowledge of site campus, fire protection systems, and site-specific target hazards such that the employee is recognized as a subject matter expert in the aforementioned areas of expertise.
  • To use mechanical aptitude and ability to protect property from fires, hazardous spills, and proper usage of emergency medical equipment and supplies as well as learn and operate relatively complex equipment.
  • Advance organizational priorities, prevention activities, by establishing and maintaining effective customer-focused, working relationships with associates, Pratt & Whitney site employees and visitors.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the delivery of fire suppression actions, emergency medical service delivery and all prevention-related activities.
  • Utilize physical aptitude to perform prolonged and difficult work fire prevention, hazardous response, fire suppression and medical interventions in and under adverse conditions.
  • Ability to learn a wide variety of fire suppression, prevention, and emergency medical response duties within a reasonable training period.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new fire prevention, suppression, hazardous mitigation and emergency medical methods and techniques.

The position will work as part of a response team that works a 24-hour on duty / 48-hour off duty, 3-week Kelly Day schedule. The selected candidate will earn overtime for all hours worked over 40 during each weekly pay cycle.
The selected applicant will have opportunities to advance into Driver/Engineer, Rescue Lieutenant and Shift Commander roles over the course of their career. Additionally, Fire/Rescue personnel are encouraged to achieve Florida Fire Service Safety Inspector certification and Special Operations Technician-level qualifications as a part of their career progression.
Qualifications You Must Have :
Current registration by the State of Florida or National Registry as an EMT
Current certification by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute in BLS CPR, AED; Certificate of Compliance from the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training as a structural state certified Firefighter
Qualifications We Prefer
State Certified Paramedic, State of Florida Fire Instructor I, II, or III, State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification,
previous work experience as an EMT, Driver Engineer, Special Operations experience; Hazardous Materials Technician, Confined Space Technician Level, High-Angle Technician or Rope I & II, Trench Rescue.
