Job Description
The Electrical Systems Harness Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, and support of aircraft electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS) and harness assemblies for aerospace applications. This role supports the full product lifecycle, including conceptual design, prototyping, testing, certification, production, and sustainment activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in aircraft electrical systems, wire harness design, routing, installation, and aerospace industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop aircraft electrical harness systems and EWIS architecture for aerospace platforms.
  • Create detailed electrical harness drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
  • Develop wire routing layouts that meet aircraft structural, environmental, and maintainability requirements.
  • Select appropriate aerospace-grade wiring, connectors, backshells, shielding, and harness support hardware.
  • Coordinate with avionics, structures, mechanical systems, manufacturing, and certification teams to ensure proper system integration.
  • Support prototype builds, installation activities, troubleshooting, and aircraft testing.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, aerospace standards, and company design practices, including EWIS requirements.
  • Perform electrical load analysis, separation analysis, and system validation activities.
  • Review and release engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Support manufacturing and production teams with technical guidance related to harness fabrication and installation.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities for electrical system issues.
  • Assist with supplier coordination, part qualification, and vendor technical reviews.
  • Support certification documentation and regulatory compliance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace electrical systems or wire harness engineering.
  • Experience designing aircraft electrical harnesses and EWIS installations.
  • Proficiency with CAD and electrical design tools such as CATIA, Siemens Capital, Mentor Graphics, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, aerospace standards, and EWIS requirements.
  • Familiarity with aerospace connectors, wiring standards, shielding, grounding, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Part 23 or Part 25 aircraft programs.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and harness fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with DO-160 environmental testing standards.
  • Experience supporting aircraft certification and flight test programs.
  • Previous experience in production support or MRB activities.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
