Monday through Friday, primarily daytime hours with 4, 10 hours availableThis is an opportunity for a motivated APP to join an interdisciplinary team in the Department of Pediatrics providing care to patients with hematological diagnoses. The team seeks a good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions. This person must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide range of hematological diagnoses. Must be adept at planning and prioritizing work while communicating efficiently in a team environment. Must be flexible in their approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances. Candidate will work as a collaborative member of the APP team and provide coverage to support the needs of the group. Responsibilities include evaluation and management of acute illness, chronic symptom management, follow-up care, coordination of services and patient/family education. The URMC office has a pediatric infusion center on site to provide treatments for patients in the practice that is covered by the APP provider team. The APP will gain expertise and manage patients with conditions such as: sickle cell disease, iron deficiency, anemia and anti-coagulation conditions. In addition to seeing patients in the outpatient setting, the position will include providing coverage of the pediatric infusion center for all diagnosis treated.This role will include cross-coverage of patient visits and in basket messages for other members of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group as well. Excellent organizational and team skills are essential. Nurse PractitionerRequire a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner. Physician AssistantRequired completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
