When working remotely, they typically handle tasks such as updating legacy code, integrating databases, troubleshooting issues, and migrating older applications to newer technologies. Remote Classic ASP Developers use collaboration tools to communicate with team members, manage project tasks, and deliver updates without being onsite. Their expertise is especially valuable for businesses that still rely on Classic ASP for critical applications and need ongoing support or modernization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Classic ASP developer in a remote role?

To thrive as a Classic ASP Developer working remotely, you need solid experience in Classic ASP, VBScript, JavaScript, HTML, and SQL, often supported by a relevant computer science degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with source control systems like Git, database management tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio), and remote collaboration platforms is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, clear communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for remote success. These competencies ensure efficient development, maintainability of legacy systems, and seamless teamwork across distributed environments.

What are common challenges faced by remote Classic ASP developers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Classic ASP Developers often encounter challenges such as maintaining legacy codebases, integrating with modern systems, and limited documentation. Effective solutions include proactively communicating with team members, utilizing version control tools, and participating in regular code reviews. While the position is full stack, their back-end team is well established, so the ideal candidate is a full stack engineer whose strongest skills are on the front-end. You should be passionate about building modern SaaS applications and enjoy solving complex technical challenges in healthcare. Above all, they are looking for someone with the right attitude. That includes enthusiasm, curiosity, and the drive to pick up a project and run with it. They value developers who are eager to learn, take initiative, and see problems through.

You will work across their web and mobile products and their healthcare integrations:

Responsibilities:

  • Build intuitive, responsive, and accessible user interfaces for clinical workflows
  • Develop reusable components and maintainable front-end architecture using Angular and TypeScript
  • Partner with product and design to translate requirements into polished user experiences
  • Optimize front-end performance, reliability, and usability

Mobile Application Collaboration

  • Act as an internal point of contact for the company's mobile (.NET MAUI), and work closely with their external mobile contractor
  • Understand the complexities of mobile development and help guide technical decisions
  • Ensure reliable, flawless data synchronization between the mobile app, back-end systems, and web application

Full Stack & Back-End Support

  • Develop and maintain back-end services and APIs in C# / .NET with Entity Framework and SQL Server
  • Support cloud-native applications and APIs hosted in Microsoft Azure
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and well-tested code
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues

Healthcare Integration

  • Build and maintain integrations with third-party EHR systems via HL7 and FHIR
  • Collaborate with implementation teams on integration and interoperability projects
  • Help ensure healthcare data is exchanged securely and accurately

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions
  • Participate in Agile development processes and sprint planning
  • Contribute ideas to improve architecture, scalability, and development practices

Requirements:

  • 4–6 years of professional full stack software development experience
  • Demonstrated depth in front-end development, with the ability to take ownership of complex UI work
  • Experience building SaaS or cloud-based applications
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • A self-starter attitude — curious, enthusiastic, and able to take a project and run with it
  • Front-End Skills:
    • Angular (current versions) with strong, hands-on experience
    • JavaScript / TypeScript
    • HTML5 / CSS3 and responsive, component-based UI design
    • Building and maintaining single-page applications
  • Back-End & Platform Skills
    • C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core
    • Entity Framework and RESTful API development
    • SQL Server and relational database design
    • Microsoft Azure and source control with Git (Azure DevOps or GitHub)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (Equivalent professional experience will be considered)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare software or healthcare SaaS
  • Experience migrating applications from AngularJS to modern Angular
  • Experience with .NET MAUI, Xamarin, or other mobile development frameworks
  • Experience with offline-capable apps and data synchronization
  • Familiarity with HL7 and FHIR healthcare interoperability standards
  • Knowledge of healthcare security and HIPAA requirements
