Job description
NOTE: Must reside within a 45-minute commute of the Indianapolis area to meet emergency response requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, manage, and support statewide LAN/WAN, Internet access, disaster recovery (DR), wireless, and VPN services
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, and wireless technologies
Review and recommend enhancements to the college's data and telecommunications infrastructure to drive continuous service improvement
Keep current with evolving network hardware and software capabilities and incorporate best-practice standards
Analyze assigned problems and develop solutions; guide the end-to-end implementation of network projects
Develop communication plans for both planned and unplanned outages
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, inventory, and security measures associated with the college network infrastructure
Maintain high standards of quality by developing effective operational procedures and system documentation
Provide mentoring leadership to the statewide network engineering team
Share expertise with peers and foster a team-oriented environment
Work effectively and diplomatically with peers, customers, and external entities
Present technical sessions and serve on task forces as requested

Demonstrated ability to evaluate and diagnose network and application performance issues

Experience with different types of wiring, cable types, and standards
Experience with optical multiplexing technologies
Experience with common network protocols and services
Experience configuring and deploying different types of VPN technologies
Familiarity withZeroTrust networking principles and network security best practices, with a willingness to help evaluate and implement aZeroTrust framework
Experience with enterprise network management and monitoring solutions
Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
