Job Summary
The Deposit Operations Specialist (I) performs routine Deposit Operations processing and support, including NSF, returns, Canadian checks, returned mail, branch account discrepancies, card issues, monitoring reports, QwickRate CDs, wire support, and account maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities
• Responsible for processing NSF items and assisting with daily NSF-related review, documentation, and follow-up.
• Responsible for processing outgoing and incoming returns, including returned deposited items and related account adjustments.
• Responsible for assisting with Canadian check processing, including review, documentation, account posting support, and follow-up in accordance with established procedures.
• Responsible for assisting with returned mail processing, including research, documentation, account updates, and appropriate follow-up with branches or internal departments.
• Responsible for assisting branches and internal departments with account discrepancies, research requests, corrections, and routine customer account issues.
• Responsible for supporting debit card-related issues, including card maintenance, research, and routine operational assistance.
• Accountable for reviewing and completing assigned monitoring reports, logs, and exception reports to ensure items are addressed timely and accurately.
• Responsible for opening and maintaining QwickRate certificates of deposit in accordance with procedures and required documentation.
• Responsible for supporting routine wire transfer tasks as assigned by completing basic processing steps, documentation, and follow-up under established procedures.
• Responsible for completing account maintenance requests, including updates, corrections, documentation review, imaging, indexing, and follow-up.
• Accountable for escalating unusual activity, unresolved discrepancies, fraud concerns, legal matters, or higher-risk items to Deposit Operations Specialist II, Senior Specialist, Supervisor, or Manager.

Qualifications and Skills
• Basic knowledge of, or ability to learn, deposit operations, payment processing, account maintenance, and exception processing.
• Basic proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Effective communication skills with customers, and employees.
• Good organization, problem-solving, time management, accuracy, and attention to detail.

• Ability to learn banking regulations, procedures, systems, and operational controls.
• Ability to work independently and with others to meet deadlines.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift, organize, and file office materials and records.

Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in business, accounting, or banking preferred.
• Prior banking, customer service, operations, or administrative experience preferred.
• Experience handling confidential customer information, account records, or detailed documentation preferred.
• Prior experience using core banking systems, Microsoft Office, or similar business applications preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
