Job description

Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Controls Specialist I to join our team!
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordination of activities involved in the installation, operation, and maintenance of industrial plant control systems, including but not limited to Plant DCS, Switchgear SCADA, Burner Management, Softener Control System, and external Steam customer network, in accordance with CEG Cybersecurity Standards, OEM requirements, and applicable NFPA codes. Responsibilities include technical support of engineers, plant operators, and instrumentation/electrical technicians in the maintenance and operation of steam plant, during normal hours and during emergencies.
  • Implement capital projects related to this discipline by coordinating and overseeing internal and contracted resources, contributing to the capital budgeting process, maintaining compliance with established budgets, and providing technical support and guidance to Engineering and other capital project groups.
  • Incumbent is familiar with a variety of industrial control and processing equipment including, but not limited to, electrical breakers, variable frequency drives, valve & damper actuators, flame scanners, motors, pumps, PLCs, and computer networking equipment.
  • Review, analyze, and author complex technical documentation including electrical drawings, schematics, control descriptions, specifications, manuals, and technical files associated with electrical distribution and industrial control systems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and related engineering software to create, update, and modify electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support to engineers, plant operators, and instrumentation/electrical technicians in the maintenance and operation of steam plant, during normal hours and during emergencies.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and training to Operations and Maintenance on process control systems (hardware and software); troubleshoot and resolve control system and computer network malfunctions
  • Implement control system process improvements
  • Provide technical support to comply with Citizens Energy Group Cybersecurity Standards and OEM requirements.
  • Update drawings, manuals, and technical files related to computer and process
    control software and hardware
  • Provide computer and process control technical support to engineering on capital
    projects as assigned
  • Continuous education training

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, equivalency Certificate, or sufficient skill-related education acceptable by management.
  • Six (6) years related experience and/or training, including:
    o minimum of one (1) year of industrial networking experience or industrial networking certification,
    o experience in PLC/industrial controls programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret a wide range of technical drawings and documentation, including electrical, mechanical, civil, process, and related engineering prints.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, Outlook, Oracle, enterprise software
  • Valid driver's license in the United States, or alternate approved by management.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license required within 30 days of first day of employment.
  • Requires reading, math, written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Able to work independently and take initiative with minimal direction
  • Must have the ability to work well and communicate with customers, management, and the general public, and be able to establish effective working relationships with other employees
  • Must have a safe driving record including no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, suspensions/revocations, or DUI/DWI convictions within the last three years.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Associate Applied Science (AAS) in Electrical, Electronics, or Controls Engineering, or Technology from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • ISA Certified Controls System Technician (CCST), or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA Codes and standards, including but not limited to NFPA 70, 70E, 79 and 85.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret a wide range of technical drawings and documentation, including electrical, mechanical, civil, process, related engineering prints and bid documents.
  • Expanded knowledge of the principles associated with steam plant operations and maintenance obtained through 3 - 5 years of experience including knowledge of industrial boilers and water treatment process controls, burner management, power generation, distribution and process control systems.
  • Expanded working knowledge of plant Distributed Control Systems (DCS), SCADA, process controls, and electrical power supply & distribution systems
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Experience in project management skills including planning, estimating, specifications, implementation, and coordination.
  • Experience in plant and project start-up.
  • Ability to work with confidential information, use discretion and best judgment
  • Licensed Master Electrician (City of Indianapolis).
  • Working knowledge of EasyPower or SKM Arc Flash/Coordination applications
  • NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional
