Job description

About Intermezzo

Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails has been a fixture on Central Avenue since 2016. We're an all-day European-inspired café and bar — coffee in the morning, cocktails at night, and a warm, unhurried atmosphere in between. The coffee program is built on the classics done well — precise, intentional, and consistent — with just enough creative expression to make it ours. The baristas are the reason the morning works.

The Role

This is a morning and daytime role at the heart of what Intermezzo is. You'll be behind the espresso bar, executing a specialty coffee program for a crowd that includes a lot of regulars — people who know what they like and notice when it's done right.

You're not just making drinks. You're the first impression of Intermezzo for every guest who walks in before sundown. That's a role worth taking seriously.

What You'll Do
  • Execute Intermezzo's full coffee and café beverage menu with consistency and care — espresso drinks, lattes, cold brew, tea, and house-made specialties
  • Maintain espresso bar setup and station readiness throughout your shift
  • Manage milk handling and prep efficiently — quality and waste control both matter
  • Be a warm, present, and knowledgeable host — remember guests, make conversation, make people feel at home
  • Learn the basics of Intermezzo's cocktail program — enough to understand the concept you're part of and handle the essentials when asked
  • Keep your station clean and organized throughout the shift
  • Complete opening and closing duties with attention to detail

What We're Looking For
  • Some specialty coffee experience preferred — you understand espresso fundamentals and want to get better at them
  • A genuine love of hospitality — the morning shift lives and dies by the energy you bring to it
  • Consistent and detail-oriented — a great cappuccino on Monday has to be the same great cappuccino on Saturday
  • Warm and composed — you're a host first and a barista second
  • Curious about the cocktail side — you don't need to be a bartender, but you should want to understand the full concept
  • Weekend availability required

Compensation & Details
  • $11–13/hour (commensurate with experience) + tips
  • Part-time and full-time positions available
  • St. Petersburg, Florida

Why Intermezzo

You'll work in a program that takes coffee seriously, in a space that has meant something to this community for nearly a decade. The guests are loyal, the team is good, and the standard is worth meeting.
