A Tennessee public high school assistant football coach is responsible for supporting the head coach in the overall leadership, athletic instruction, safety, and administrative execution of the school's football program. This role requires a strict commitment to the rules of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA).
Core Job Responsibilities
- Instruction & Player Development: Assist the head coach in teaching football fundamentals, position-specific skills, team strategies, and athletic conditioning.
- Student Supervision: Maintain absolute supervision of student-athletes during practices, games, workouts, and travel. This explicitly includes mandatory locker room supervision until all players have vacated the area.
- Safety & Welfare: Promote a safe environment, recognize potential injuries, ensure required medical authorization forms are accessible, and document all injuries immediately.
