Position Description: Systems Engineer Location: Colorado Springs, CO Barnett Engineering & Signaling Laboratories LLC (BESL) is seeking qualified Systems Engineers of all levels with ground segment experience to support an exciting new worldwide opportunity based in Colorado Springs, CO. Qualified candidates must possess a DevSecOps development background utilizing Agile frameworks and an in-depth familiarity and ability using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and practice. This exciting new work requires experience designing, developing, operating, and testing ground/satellite systems. Responsibilities include engaging with the customer to deliver Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to enhance the operations environment and deliver critical solutions to complex problems. Must be able to work with the customer to identify needs, achieve goals, and meet expectations. Experience with some or all of standard satellite ground functions is preferred. This includes mission data processing, situational awareness, automation, front-end processors, ground antennas, crypto equipment, and terrestrial communication network. Qualified personnel will exhibit flexibility and the ability to work individually and/or in a team environment with customers and other SME personnel. Requirements Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Experience designing, developing, testing, or operating ground/satellite systems.
Experience with one or more areas of satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning, and scheduling, satellite operations, and Digital Signal Processing.
3 years working with USG satellite or ground customer teams.
Experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Experience with System requirements management (A-Spec/B-Spec ).
Assist the development of the program's Ground Segment CONOPS, design and test plan using MBSE tools.
Collaborate and support remote Ground operations interfaced with a common operating location.
Provide support to SI&T program teams.
Establish verification, validation, certification, and qualification processes and procedures for ground architecture elements such as ground antennas, factory development, and test sites, operations and support sites, cyber boundaries, and external interfaces to mission partners for tasking and dissemination.
Perform various analyses to optimize the total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
Assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.
Support definition of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for network operations or remote operations.
Position Qualifications: Bachelors in a STEM field from an accredited institution or, a combination of technical education and experience in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or, a Preferred Master's with related work experience, or, a PhD with related work experience.
Must be able to achieve and maintain a U.S. Passport.
Signals Experience/understanding of Radio Frequency and signal flow.
Agile environment experience.
DevSecOps development practices utilizing Agile Frameworks.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be a U.S. citizen. Preferred Skills: Electronic warfare experience.
Familiarity with Electromagnetic Spectrum/digital communications.
Advanced troubleshooting skills for RF and IT systems.
Previous Military or Military environment experience.
Root cause analysis experience. Security Clearance Requirement: A current DoD clearance is required for this work.
