About the Position:

Reporting to the Construction Project Manager, the Field Quality Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Reviews new project specifications and drawings and develops Field Quality Plans and Installation ITPs.
  • Adheres to and maintains Walters Quality Management System.
  • Manages Site NCRs; root cause, corrective and preventative actions.
  • Liaises with the various departments, as required, to ensure consistency of service and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Assist with overseeing NCR's from first creation to close out
  • Support field team with interpretation of drawings, standards and quality requirements.
  • Assist in closing out deficiencies
  • Participate in and review quality audits, testing and inspection with GC's, third-party inspectors.


Work Location:

  • Head office in Hamilton ON. Daily/Weekly travel to sites, sub fabricators and suppliers.

Position Requirements:

  • Completion of a college diploma or degree in Engineering or similar
  • 1 to 3+ years' experience in the Structural Steel Industry and site installation.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (CSA S16, W47/W59)
  • Demonstrated experience in Quality Management and coordination of a Quality System.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Structural Steel Industry.
  • Experience or understanding of the ISO:9001 certification.
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read structural and fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to read field erection drawings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting site installation and Project Management in interacting directly with customers, 3rd party consultants, and inspectors.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Products, AutoCAD, and other drafting software (i.e. Tekla, Trimble).
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills
  • Communication Skills - Both Written, Verbal, Listening
  • Problem Solving and Decision-Making Skills
