Alarm & Detection Technician
The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, repairing and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventive maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturer's equipment.
Job Responsibilities
  • Tests all equipment after installation or repairs made to ensure performance of system
  • Use company software to input testing results and read blueprints
  • Analysis and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems including Ground-Faults, Shorts, Wire Integrity, Termination, Panel, Fuses, Battery Testing and much more
  • Program dialers for monitoring. Phone line traditional and cell phone monitoring skills needed
  • Complete basic repairs and installations including moves, adds, relocates for all types of systems and devices
  • Complete final reports, deficiency reports and possible bids via a computer.
  • Interact with clients, field personnel and fire marshals
  • Coordination with other disciplines, engineers, general contractors and end users
  • Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of jobs
  • Responsible for training apprentices on Company procedures, systems inspection and installation techniques
  • All work is performed to NFPA and Company standards with quality inspection and installation techniques practiced

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes is required
  • NICET I or II Certification a plus
  • High School Diploma/ GED required
  • Fire Alarm Service Experience required
  • Manufactures certifications are preferred but not required (EST, Gamewell, FCI, Notifier, Honeywell, Simplex, Siemens)
  • Field installation experience is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of NFPA 72, Factory Mutual and applicable codes is preferred
  • Possess an understanding of expenses and scheduling
  • OSHA 30 is a plus
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Regular bending, reaching, climbing and walking
