Does Ansys allow remote work?

Ansys Engineer remote positions typically offer the option to work remotely, depending on the company's policies and the specific role. Many companies in engineering and software fields support remote work arrangements, especially for roles involving simulation, analysis, and design using Ansys software, provided the employee has the necessary technical setup and communication tools.

How much does an Ansys engineer make?

An Ansys engineer's salary typically ranges from $70,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and industry. Senior roles or those with specialized skills in simulation software may earn higher compensation, especially in high-demand sectors or remote work environments.

How does remote work impact collaboration for an Ansys Engineer, and what tools are commonly used to ensure effective teamwork?

As a remote Ansys Engineer, you'll frequently collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as design, simulation, and product development, often across different locations. To maintain effective communication and project progress, companies typically use platforms like Microsoft Teams, Slack, and project management tools like Jira or Asana. Additionally, secure file-sharing systems and cloud-based simulation platforms enable seamless data exchange and joint problem-solving. While remote work offers flexibility, proactive communication and regular virtual meetings are key to overcoming the challenge of physical distance and ensuring alignment with project goals.

What engineering jobs pay $500,000?

Engineering roles such as senior aerospace, petroleum, or software engineers with extensive experience, specialized skills, and advanced certifications can reach or exceed $500,000 annually, especially in leadership or executive positions. High-paying engineering jobs often require advanced degrees, significant project management responsibilities, or work in lucrative industries like oil and gas or technology.

What does an Ansys Engineer do when working remotely?

An Ansys Engineer working remotely uses Ansys simulation software to analyze and solve engineering problems from a remote location. Their responsibilities typically include setting up simulations, interpreting results, collaborating with teams through virtual meetings, and providing technical support or recommendations. Remote Ansys Engineers often work in fields such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, and manufacturing, using their expertise to improve product designs and ensure reliability. They need strong communication skills and the ability to manage projects independently while leveraging digital collaboration tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Ansys Engineer working remotely, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Ansys Engineer in a remote setting, you need a solid background in engineering principles, experience with finite element analysis (FEA), and a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency in Ansys simulation software, CAD tools, and sometimes certifications like Ansys Certified Expert are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration. These skills ensure accurate simulations, timely project delivery, and cohesive teamwork despite physical distance.

Is it possible to work remotely as an engineer?

Ansys engineers and similar roles often have the option to work remotely, especially for tasks involving simulation, analysis, and software development. Remote work arrangements depend on company policies, project requirements, and the need for collaboration or hardware access, but many engineering positions now support flexible or fully remote schedules. Skills in remote communication tools and self-management are important for success in remote engineering roles.

Job description

Role Summary:

The Principal Mechanical Engineer provides senior-level technical leadership for the design, development, and sustainment of complex valve and actuator products. This role may be based at a Flowserve site such as Houston, TX; Cookeville, TN; Vernon, CA; or Lynchburg, VA, and for highly qualified candidates, remote work may also be considered. The position focuses on advanced mechanical design, CAD modeling, casting and forging development, engineering documentation, and manufacturability. It supports engineeredtoorder programs, product development, sustaining engineering, configuration control, and continuous improvement. The role requires close collaboration with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, project management, purchasing, and field service to resolve technical issues and ensure robust product performance.
Success in this role means becoming a trusted technical leader on complex valve engineering challenges while delivering designs that improve performance, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness. It also involves strengthening collaboration across crossfunctional teams, helping standardize best practices, improving engineering execution, mentoring less experienced engineers, and elevating the overall technical capability of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of complex valve and actuator assemblies, including engineered-to-order and custom application solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for 3D CAD modeling, detailed drawings, design layouts, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Develop and review castings, forgings, machined components, and sub-assemblies to meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Interpret customer specifications, internal standards, and applicable industry codes to develop practical and robust engineering solutions.
  • Serve as a principal reviewer for design packages, engineering change notices, and product configuration updates.
  • Develops and applies advanced engineering analysis techniques to solve challenging structural and flow problems
  • Mastery of advanced engineering processes including FEA and CFD
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, planning, quality, project management, and field service teams to resolve product-related issues.
  • Drive sustaining engineering efforts to improve product reliability, manufacturability, cost, and compliance.
  • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering process improvements.
  • Author or co-author white papers furthering industry knowledge and solidifying Flowserve's position as a technical leader in the industry. Submit papers to relevant shows for presentation consideration.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in design practices, drawing standards, and technical problem-solving.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across global teams.
  • Perform additional technical assignments and special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive mechanical design experience, preferably in valve, actuator, or related industrial equipment environments.
  • Advanced SolidWorks expertise, including complex part and assembly modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting practices and dimensioning standards based on ASME Y14.5.
  • Proven ability to create and modify 3D parts using surfacing and advanced modeling techniques.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material compatibility, and product configuration control.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical problem-solving efforts in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a global team.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision while influencing cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Masters or Doctorate Engineering degree.
  • Experience with ANSYS tools, including CFD and FEA.
  • Background in casting and other valve manufacturing methods.
  • CSWP certification.
  • Familiarity with applicable ASME, ANSI, and MSS standards.
  • Prior experience with valve products and ASME B16.34.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience supporting highly engineered or highly regulated product lines.
