Job description

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Memorial Village is seeking a motivated RN PreOp to join our team . We have 8 OR rooms and 2 treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Colon Rectal, Neurological, GYN, Oculoplastic, Orthopedic, ENT, Pain Management, Podiatry, General, Plastic & Reconstructive, Urology, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day. ****

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including medical history, vital signs, and patient education.
  • Review and verify patient documentation, consents, and lab results.
  • Administer preoperative medications as ordered and monitor patient response.
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding the surgical process.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other clinical staff to ensure smooth transitions of care.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Document all patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, efficient, and supportive pre-op environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Must have at least 1-3 years' previous experience in PreOP/PACU
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
  • Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS
