Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Puyallup Heritage Committee, the Heritage Multi-Media Manager will create digitized designs for Heritage materials, produce, edit and design video and audio content for Heritage learning and use, provide media support for heritage employees, oversee the development and maintenance of the PuyallupTribalLanguage.org website and accompanying databases. Manage Social Media for the Heritage departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the general production, organization and editing of Heritage video and audio recordings for activities & events including producing, staging, designing and creating Heritage learning videos and audio content for use by students, teachers and community members.
- Create interactive multi-media Heritage learning materials.
- Assist with creating online course materials for Heritage learners and teachers.
- Responsible for the maintenance of data input for online materials.
- Responsible for providing assistance in developing Heritage learning tools to aide students with Heritage learning.
- Provide technology support for all community Heritage learning events.
- Using personal knowledge of the Southern Lushootseed language, Puyallup culture and history, assist in developing, researching and maintaining a database for written and recorded heritage materials.
- Working with heritage staff to develop the best active web presence for each entity, including continued development and maintenance of the PuyallupTribalLanguage.org Website.
- Edit and organize audio files of spoken Southern Lushootseed Materials.
- Provide digital design services for heritage related materials.
- Review all proofs of Lushootseed translations and materials before production.
- Attend community meetings regarding multi-media content with the Heritage Committee such as; City of Tacoma, EQC and Tribal Council.
- Obtain updated multi-media training to keep up with the growth of the technology industry.
- Support the Communications Department in the development and maintenance of the PuyallupTribe-nsn.gov Website.
- Collaborate with the Communications department to assist with running sound and other projects as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will supervise all staff within the Heritage Multi Media Department. Supervisory duties include responsibility for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the department’s staff. This position will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED is required. Certificate in web design/development required. Must demonstrate three years of exposure, study and understanding of the Southern Lushootseed culture, Puyallup culture and history. Must be enrolled in the level one certification program or be proficient in the Lushootseed Language within one year of employment. Must have three or more years of design and production experience. Must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of multi-media development including experience in animation, video production, audio production, digital graphic design, responsive development, mobile application development, web design using markup, scripting, API’s, database and server-side languages (i.e. HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, JQuery, etc.). Must be willing to pursue additional education and training in multi-media program formats including video and audio production as well as web and mobile application development. Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge of various audio, video and animation software, editing and special effects techniques is required.
Knowledge of:
- Southern Lushootseed language, Puyallup culture and history.
- Proper protocol while interacting with Coast Salish people and culture.
- Effective behavior management techniques.
- Rules and procedures for student safety.
- Necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools or software.
- Proficient use of reading, writing and oral communications.

Note: Part-time work is prorated in crediting experience (e.g., if you work 20 hours per week for a 12-month period you will be credited with 6 months of experience).
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry and logical mathematics associated with developing mobile and web applications. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills/Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
Must be able to successfully pass a background check prior to hire, and periodically throughout employment thereafter.
