It's a laid back environment and the people are friendly for the most part.

The pay when considering the cost of living compared to other nearby markets lacks. And the hours aren't the most desirable, it would take years to achieve better hours. The staffing compared to some other stations lack as well.

You get to tell the stories of the people in your community. There are many opportunities working in news that you wouldn’t normally get with other jobs - special access in events to shoot video, interview celebrities, and etc. People sometimes want to take pictures with you just because you work in the news. You often get to know the news before the rest of the public does.
Worst thing
There will be times you are out in scary situations, but always have the right to leave. You may get harassed and threatened by the people if they don’t want a camera recording what’s going on (even though you may have the right to be there). You will have to talk to families that just had a loved one murdered and go through an emotional interview. There is a newscast that happens and so you have to make sure all your work is completed by the deadline which can become very stressful.
