The Vice President, Artistic Planning (VPAP) will design and oversee vision and artistic planning of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra (SDSO); Work with the Music Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to create seasons that are vibrant and balanced for audiences and orchestra. Incorporate innovative concepts and ideas into the concert experience at Jacobs Music Center and also regional venues that connect San Diego Symphony musicians with the greater community including Baja California. Identify and build relationships with key artistic partners including guest soloists, and artists across many genres. With Associate Director of Artistic planning, and in collaboration with other SDSO senior managers design the overarching plan for each season that balances economic realities, service usage and dynamic programming. Participate in long-range planning effort that is forward looking and anticipates the steady growth of the San Diego Symphony and its role as an important participant in the civic life of the city. Imagine the opportunities available to the SDSOA as a presentation venue in addition to San Diego Symphony performances as a way to enhance revenue and connect with new audiences. Provide a key perspective on programming for the Bayside Performance Park, which is estimated to open in summer 2019.
