PT / FT Optician

Private Optometry practice is seeking a PT/FT position for an optician in Barrington/ Lake Zurich. Responsibilities include: assisting patients with glasses and contact lenses, answering phones, scheduling appointments, receiving and dispensing glasses and data entry.

Experience with VSP, EyeMed, Davis and Superior vision plans preferred, but willing to train. Knowledge of Medicare and other medical billng a plus.

Candidate is responsible for pre-testing patients, interpreting prescriptions written by our optometrists, recommending frames, lens education, and contact lens training. Optician must be able to calculate insurance co-pays based on eligibility, dispense and adjust eyeglasses, and check orders in from the laboratory.

Position requires evenings and Saturdays.

Must be reliable, organized, and have great customer service skills.
