Doctor of Optometry

Position Summary: The Doctor of Optometry is responsible for providing complete eye care services including eye exams, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis of eye disease and vision disorders, while positively contributing to an environment that delivers excellent patient care.  

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform comprehensive eye health and vision examinations
• Conduct contact lens fittings
• Diagnose disease and vision disorders
• Detect general health concerns
• Counsel patients regarding their alternatives and vision needs as related to their occupations, avocations and lifestyle
• Deliver exceptional service and care throughout the patients’ eye care experience
• Support and maintain compliance with policies and processes for standards of care
• Cultivate business through patient and exam growth initiatives and quality of care
• Lead by example regarding interaction with patients and staff members
• Coach and develop retail staff to achieve excellence in customer care, customer preparation and customer transition.
• Be a champion for the organization in working with peers in optometry and ophthalmology
• Collaborate with local Ophthalmologists on cross referrals for patient care
• Additional Responsibilities as needed

Education & Experience:

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree plus pre-requisite undergraduate degree/courses

Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Doctor of Optometry in a retail environment

Licensed to practice in New York
