The Children's Hospital of Illinois and the Carle Health System in Urbana, Illinois is seeking a board eligible/board certified fellowship-trained Pediatric Surgeon to join our Pediatric Surgical division at Carle. Since 2009, the two organizations have been affiliated partners in providing high quality pediatric care to a service area of 1.5 million residents. The Carle Health System employs over 450 physicians, 250 midlevel comprising 50 specialties/subspecialties within the Carle Physician Group. The group is locally owned and physician led and is a part of a not-for-profit integrated network of healthcare services that also includes Health Alliance Medical Plan and the Carle Foundation Hospital, a 393-bed Level I Trauma Center with Level III Perinatal Services. Specific aspects of job include:

- Large built-in referral base with growing pediatric physician program
- Block surgical time with supporting resources in place: operating room team. Latest daVinci Xi system for robotic cases, etc.
- Comprehensive support services to optimize surgical care across the continuum. Services included but not limited to the following: fellowship trained pediatric anesthesiologists, fellowship-trained radiologist, child life services, neonatologists, pediatric intensivists/hospitalists and dedicated advance practice provider to support surgeon.
- Position allows for individual clinical autonomy combined with the efficiency of a financially-sound and innovative multispecialty group practice. Affiliated partnership allows for complex case and peer review support from CHOI.
- Carle and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are partnering to establish the nation’s first college of medicine focused, from the beginning, on the intersection of engineering and medicine.

The service is supported by Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria which has a robust and growing referral base of over 120 Pediatric Sub-Specialists and over 68 OSF Medical Group practice locations in Illinois with over 800 physicians on staff at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center; a Level I Trauma Center. CHOI is the primary pediatric teaching facility for UICOMP and is a 132-bed facility that offers over 50 pediatric programs and services. These programs represent pediatric specialists in 24 different disciplines, including the second largest pediatric surgery program in Illinois. CHOI is the only full service tertiary hospital for children in downstate Illinois. It is a designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Pediatric Critical Care Center, Regional Perinatal Center and Maternal Fetal center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Congenital Heart Center with 2 CV surgeons. It is a Children’s Oncology Group Site, St. Jude Midwest Affiliate and fully supports the practice and programs at our Carle affiliation with our state of the art eight story, 440,000 square foot, Children’s Hospital opened in August 2010 integrating children’s inpatient services within one building.
