Cross Country Locums is seeking Primary Care Family Medicine coverage need in Alaska.

Minimum 4 month commitment required to start, can return for shorter stints post initial placement. Outpatient clinic work is M-F. This is a place with wonderful people and a truly unique and excellent rural medicine experience. Cross Country Locums will secure your AK locums license and then your PERM license. If committed to licensure and application is submitted with the state, the locum can have temp privileges approved on any state license.

Locums Family Medicine Core Privileges: A representative but not inclusive list of Family Medicine scope of services and specific procedures is stated below. Other procedures and problems of similar complexity will fall within the identified core and special requests. It is expected that the practitioner will obtain consultation with clinical situations that lie outside his/her training or experience.

On site and through telemedicine privileges to admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide non-surgical treatment to inpatients and outpatients including adult and pediatric patients. Privileges include, but are not limited to:

  • Suture of uncomplicated lacerations
  • I & D abscess
  • Performance of simple skin biopsy or excision
  • Removal of non-penetrating corneal foreign body
  • Management of uncomplicated minor closed fractures
  • Uncomplicated dislocations, except for those special procedures privileges listed below.

**Pediatric patients with major complications or life-threatening disease must have mandatory consultation with a pediatrician.

** Qualifications: To be eligible for core privileges in family medicine, the applicant must meet the following qualifications: Basic Education: MD or DO. Formal Training: Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA approved Family Practice. Training or residency program or the international equivalent in the specialty of Family Practice. Board Certification: Certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) approved. American Board of Family Practice or meet the qualifications required taking the examination. Applicant must attain board certification in an ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) approved specialty within four years of becoming eligible for board certification.
