Job Description

The primary focus of the Physician is to provide high quality healthcare, education, and preventative care to inmates that meets and exceeds community, correctional, and professional standards. This position, comes with additional responsibility of creating policies to improve the facility’s level of care and reduce likelihood of infection and disease transmission.

Details:

• Full time, locum position
• 26-week long contract, beginning February 4th, 2019
• Day shift schedule, totaling 40 hours per week
• Provide a full range of health services and care to all inmates, including preventative care
• Act as the supervisor of medical treatment protocols
• Implement programs to teach unit staff treatment protocol
• Oversee the quality of care administered by Physician Assistants
• Review medical histories of new inmates and determine their immediate medical needs
• Perform health assessments on inmates and develop a plan of care
• Complete minor surgical procedures: suturing lacerations, debriding burns, incising and draining purulent infections
• Ensure access to care for inmates in temporary lockup and segregation units
• Facilitate coordination with offsite caregivers
• EMR: Cerner

• Valid DEA registration
• Minimum two years of experience
