Emergency Short Call Substitute Teacher
Location: Albany Area Schools, Minnesota
Overview
Albany Area Schools invites qualified applicants to serve as Emergency Short Call Substitute Teachers, a newly authorized role under Minnesota law. This position enables you to step in for absent teachers for up to 10 consecutive school days per assignment, helping maintain continuity in student learning.Minnesota SenateKSTP.com 5 Eyewitness News
Why This Matters
In response to persistent substitute teacher shortages, Minnesota has now made permanent a flexible "short-call emergency sub" pathway previously in pilot form. It eases the entry into substitute teaching by extending eligibility beyond traditionally licensed teachers.KSTP.com 5 Eyewitness News
Who Can Apply
  • Individuals with at least an associate's degree, or
  • Those holding a high school diploma (or equivalent) who've served as education support personnel or paraprofessionals in the district for a minimum of one academic year.Minnesota Senate
    Applicants must also pass a district background check in line with standard safety procedures.
Duration & Compensation
  • You can serve up to 10 consecutive school days per assignment.Minnesota Senate
