Job description

Position Summary:
Vallen's Director Operations Integrated Solutions is a staff management position and is responsible for the implementation and execution of the operational strategic direction of Integrated Solutions (I/S). This role is responsible for overseeing 8-12 Area Managers and the operational management of $250 - $350 million in I/S revenue.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partners with the Integrated Solutions sales team and local markets to ensure that all operational expectations for both the customer and Vallen are being met:
  • Ensures contractual obligations are met
  • Achieves Vallen Customer Service goals (Service Level by Promise Date %, Effective Expediting %, Service Level by Availability %)
  • Achieves Vallen Working Capital goals (Inventory as a % of Sales, DOH, and Unproductive Inventory %)
  • Performs to Vallen budget
  • Provides primary leadership for the Integrated Solutions continuous improvement team
  • Participates in customer business reviews and site assessments to identify strategic business challenges and priorities; leads teams in analyzing information and prioritizing opportunities critical to customers.
  • Partners with HR to attract, hire, develop, and train all assigned I/S operational positions
  • Ensures that field ready initiatives are effectively communicated and supported
  • With regional partners, flawlessly executes regionally sponsored initiatives
  • Oversees the execution of multiple project plans simultaneously; provides approval for or drives corrective action for plan deviations; prepares and provides project status reports to customer and Vallen leadership teams as scheduled or requested.
  • Contributes to strategies focused on expanding Vallen's national account client base to gain new business; partners with the Implementation and Solutions Design teams to seamlessly implement new customer contracts.
  • May have staff management responsibilities including but not limited to: interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, counseling, and disciplining associates while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a four year College or University (Supply Chain Management, Logistic Management, Finance, or Business Administration preferred) coupled with:
  • 7-10+ years of experience in supply chain management, wholesale distribution, industrial distribution, manufacturing or a similarly applicable industry (indirect materials a plus)
  • Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated financial stewardship and business acumen
    • Management and analysis of P&L (preferably in excess of $20m)
    • Ability to produce and interpret various financial forecast models
    • Success with designing profitable business proposals
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills with professional presence

Staff Management Responsibilities:
Direct management of a department, section, unit or group involving responsibility for results in terms of cost, methods and personnel. Full accountability for hiring, discipline, discharge, performance appraisals, salary administration, etc.
