Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Cabling Technician to join our team. In this role, you will install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems and low voltage infrastructure across a variety of commercial job sites including office buildings, retail spaces, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, route, and terminate low voltage cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coaxial cable in commercial environments (fiber termination a plus)
• Mount and wire AV equipment, security cameras, access control systems, and network data racks/patch panels
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and project specifications
• Perform cable testing and certification using Fluke or similar test equipment and document results
• Dress and label cable runs neatly in accordance with TIA/EIA standards
• Install support structures, including cable racks, j-hooks, innerduct
• Knowledgeable on the proper use of basic hand tools
• Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and other trades on active job sites
• Troubleshoot and resolve cabling issues and signal/connectivity problems
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
• Maintain a clean, neat, professional appearance
• Complete daily work orders, job documentation, and material tracking accurately
Required Qualifications
• Proficiency with Cat6/Cat6A, fiber optic, coaxial, and AV cabling installation and termination
• Experience with cable testing and certification equipment (e.g., Fluke equivalent)
• Familiarity with TIA/EIA-568 wiring standards and best practices
• Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and riser diagrams
• Comfortable working on ladders, scissor lifts, and in confined spaces
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with access control
• IP camera systems
• Fiber optic splicing or fusion experience
• Forklift or aerial lift certification
Work Conditions
• Full-time position; Monday–Friday 8am–5pm
• Travel to commercial job sites within the service area
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including climbing, kneeling, and working overhead
