Value Added Business Manager for Iowa Premium Beef responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for brand/program complex that includes:

    • Work with pricing manager to deliver the annual plan and manage objectives including:

      • Yearly business plan that will meet tonnage and margin benchmarks

      • Pricing strategy and price list

      • Product mix offering and program’s box inventory

    • Lead management of brand/program customer relationships in all channels

      • Serve as an internal and external resource for product and brand information

      • Develop and execute tactics to build and retain brand partners

      • Perform brand trainings, customer calls and business reviews

      • Collaborate with Field Managers and Account Managers on account opportunities

      • Understand customer needs and key drivers of their business including best-food-day ad, food shows, merchandising needs, training and planning assistance

    • Drive new program growth through new and current customers

      • Work closely with Field Managers and Account Managers to maintain an on-going list of target prospects and generate new customer leads across all channels

      • Participate as a lead resource in the program and brand sell-ins to key target accounts

      • Increase current customer penetration; identify and propose new cuts/items for the program and customers

      • Build a committed customer base for under-utilized items.   

    • Other duties as assigned

This is an on-site position.  This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing.


Qualified Candidates for the Value Added Business Manager for Iowa Premium Beef position should possess the following:

  • Meat business knowledge and experience

    • Live cattle and boxed beef markets, movements, and trends

    • Possess awareness of pricing, margin, and optimization strategies

  • Understanding of business channel dynamics – retail, food-service, and further processing

  • Understand given cattle sort production capabilities, product specifications, packaging, and yields

  • Identify brand positioning opportunities against commodity beef and competitive brands and programs

  • Ability to effectively organize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication skills

  • Hold strategic mindset with reasoning and problem-solving ability

Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
