Job Description

The Vice President, Media Relations is responsible for developing and executing communications strategies that advance NBCUniversal Advertising & Partnerships' most critical business priorities, including strategic sales partnerships, content integrations, advertising innovation, and the division's highest-profile industry events. This role supports sales communications for NBCUniversal’s world-class portfolio of Entertainment, News and Sports, including NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, and Bravo as well as the domestic properties of VERSANT.

As a senior communications leader and trusted advisor to executive leadership, this role will shape the narratives that define NBCUniversal's position in the advertising and business marketplace. A strong understanding of the evolving media and advertising landscape, including ad technology, AI, data, and measurement, is essential to effectively communicate the company's innovation agenda.

A proven people leader, the Vice President will lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications team while overseeing strategy and execution for many of the division's most visible marketplace events, including Cannes Lions, SXSW, the NBCUniversal Upfront, Advertising Week, and other marquee industry engagements. Working closely with senior leaders across Sales, Strategy, Marketing, Product, Sales Enablement, and the broader NBCUniversal portfolio, this leader will develop and execute integrated communications strategies that elevate the company's partnerships, programming integrations, content portfolio, advertising capabilities, and market leadership.

By cultivating strong relationships with media, clients, partners, and key industry influencers, and staying ahead of emerging industry trends, this role will help ensure NBCUniversal remains at the forefront of the conversations shaping the future of advertising and media.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute communications strategies that drive business impact across NBCUniversal Advertising & Partnerships' portfolio of advertising partnerships, programming integrations, advertising capabilities, sales priorities, and marquee industry events.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and excellence.
  • Partner closely with leaders across Sales, Strategy, Product, Marketing, Sales Enablement, and Corporate Communications to develop cohesive narratives that support business objectives and strengthen NBCUniversal's position in the advertising marketplace.
  • Oversee the communications strategy and execution for the division's marquee industry moments, including the NBCUniversal Upfront, Cannes Lions, SXSW, Advertising Week, BravoCon,  and other high-profile marketplace engagements.
  • Shape and lead the Advertising & Partnerships communications strategy for NBCUniversal's flagship corporate initiatives and cultural tentpoles, aligning with cross-functional communications teams to elevate advertiser relevance, including the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, NBC100, BravoCon, Bravo Fan Fest, and more.
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior executives, providing strategic counsel on media relations, positioning, issues management, speaking opportunities, and market-facing communications.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate NBCUniversal's visibility and influence through proactive storytelling, industry events, and strategic media engagement.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the evolving advertising ecosystem, including advertising technology, AI-powered capabilities, data, audience solutions, and measurement innovation, to effectively position NBCUniversal's leadership in the marketplace.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media, industry influencers, clients, partners, and external communications counterparts to advance business and communications objectives.
Qualifications
  • 12-15+ years of communications experience, including leadership experience within advertising, media, technology, or related industries.
  • Deep expertise across the advertising, media, and technology landscape, including streaming, AI, data and measurement, and ad tech, with a strong network of industry media, influencers, and business stakeholders.
  • Proven people leader with a track record of building, developing, and motivating high-performing teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated communications strategies that advance complex business priorities and drive measurable marketplace impact.
  • Exceptional strategic thinker and communicator, with the ability to anticipate opportunities, have a proactive business mindset, and translate complex business and product initiatives into compelling narratives.
  • Highly credible executive presence with sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining high standards and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding writing and storytelling skills, with experience developing executive communications strategies.
  • Highly collaborative leader who builds trusted partnerships across functions, influences key stakeholders, and drives alignment around the organization's most critical business priorities.
  • New York-based with willingness to travel as needed.
  • In-office requirement of four days per week.
