Job description

Direct Support Professional - BurbankCompany Overview

We are a dedicated human services organization providing community-based support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Burbank and surrounding cities. Our team is passionate about helping people live more independent, meaningful, and connected lives.

We foster an energetic, team-oriented environment where staff are encouraged to learn, grow, and contribute their ideas. Every role on our team directly impacts the quality of life and opportunities available to the people we support.

The Opportunity

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be a mentor, teacher, guide, and advocate for adults with I/DD, helping them build skills, participate in their community, and achieve their personal goals. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility and visible impact.

If you are compassionate, outgoing, and looking for meaningful work where no two days are exactly the same, this role offers a chance to develop your skills in human services while making a daily difference in the lives of others.

What You'll Do
  • Provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, while preserving dignity, independence, and choice.
  • Coordinate and accompany individuals to community outings, recreational activities, and medical appointments.
  • Encourage and facilitate positive peer interactions, social engagement, and community inclusion.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, documenting observations and sharing updates to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
What Success Looks Like
  • Within your first months, you build trusting relationships with the individuals you support and learn their routines, preferences, and goals.
  • You reliably follow support plans, show sound judgment in day-to-day decisions, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • The people you support increase their participation in community activities, social connections, and daily living skills.
  • You collaborate well with your team, contribute to a positive work environment, and are recognized for your reliability and professionalism.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, especially in dynamic, real-life situations.
  • Clear, respectful communication and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for helping others and a willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow in the role.
  • At least 21 years of age, with reliable transportation, a valid CA Driver's License, and the ability to pass a background check; prior human services experience and American Sign Language skills are a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Benefits for full-time positions, including health insurance, flexible schedules, and opportunities for ongoing training.
  • Full-time and part-time positions available
  • Day shifts with rotating weekends; 4-hour and 8-hour shifts available, with at least one weekend day likely required.
How to Apply

If you are ready to make a meaningful difference as a Direct Support Professional in Burbank, please submit your resume and contact information through this posting. Qualified candidates will be contacted to discuss next steps.
