Job description

We’re seeking an experienced operations engineer to support a Meter Data Management System (MDMS) in a production utility environment. The core of this role is day-to-day MDMS operations on a Linux/AIX and Oracle platform; keeping data flowing reliably from ingestion through publishing and resolving issues quickly when they arise. Familiarity with AMI is a plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end support for MDMS operations, including data ingestion, VEE processing, aggregation, and data publishing
  • Analyze and resolve complex data quality issues, system defects, and integration failures
  • Monitor and troubleshoot MDMS batch jobs, workflows, dependencies, and schedules; investigate and resolve failures such as missed runs, data delays, and downstream impacts
  • Provide Oracle database support, including SQL-based troubleshooting, data validation, and performance investigation
  • Support MDMS applications on Linux/AIX, including job monitoring and log analysis
  • Support integrations between MDMS and other enterprise systems (e.g., CIS, data warehouse, analytics, AMI)
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, operational documentation, and standards
  • Execute comprehensive test cycles for system changes, defect fixes, and new functionality
  • Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IS, CS, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience Unix, Oracle and Kafka
  • Hands-on SQL or PL/SQL expertise for troubleshooting, reporting and data validation
  • Experience supporting an enterprise MDMS platform (Landis+Gyr preferred)

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

  • Understanding of AMI, smart meter technologies, interval data, and utility business processes
  • Experience with EAM systems, Cloud, Kubernetes and Python
  • Experience with enterprise scheduling / workload automation tools (e.g., UC4)
