Position Description:

The OR Nurse functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room. Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room. Provides nursing care in accordance with the objectives, policies, procedures and protocols of the hospital and AORN, ASPAN and SGNA standards. Participates in patient teaching; incorporates the needs and behavior of the patient’s specific age/cultural groups in planning and providing care. Participates in quality improvement activities.

The Ambulatory Operating Room provides care for same-day surgery patients. Although it functions as an outpatient surgical center, the Ambulatory OR delivers specialized surgical care to individuals with complex medical conditions. Surgical service lines covered include colorectal, dental, ear, nose, and throat (ENT), general surgery, gynecology, urology, urogynecology, oral maxillofacial, ophthalmology, plastics, and pediatrics. The Ambulatory OR plays a crucial role in reducing the need for extended hospital stays, offering patients high-quality, efficient care to patients who can recover safely at home.


Qualifications

·         Current active CT RN License

·         Previous OR experience required (OR Novice nurses, including Graduate Nurses, may apply to the OR Nurse Transition to Practice Program)

·         BSN Preferred

·         Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire

·         Excellent interpersonal skills

·         Independent problem-solving skills

·         Excellent communication skills

·         CNOR certification preferred
