Job description

Due to continued growth, the Grunau team is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to support our local team in Pittsburgh, PA, as an integral part of our growing Fire Alarm and Security alarm monitoring division. The ideal candidate possesses a strong knowledge of fire alarm and commercial security systems, a customer-focused mentality, and a self-motivated work ethic.
What You Will Do:
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of fire alarm systems Commercial / Industrial sites.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of Commercial / Industrial security systems including entry / camera systems.
  • Installation and programming of new fire / security monitoring equipment.
  • Perform service, install, inspections & testing of:
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Access Control Systems
    • Network CCTV Systems
    • Fire Suppression Releasing and Control Systems
    • Area of Rescue Assistance Systems
    • Intercom/Entry systems
  • Troubleshoot false alarms, ground faults, and system troubles.
  • Install fire alarm devices to include termination and programming.
  • Install fire and security cabling and infrastructure as needed
  • Provide detailed feedback on deficiencies and necessary repairs.
  • Present a neat, professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Maintain the high level of service and quality upon which our business has been built.
  • On-call rotation; occasional travel.

Basic Requirements:
  • Ohio Fire Alarm License
  • Acquisition of WV licensing
  • Acquisition of NICET Certification for Fire alarm within 1 year
  • 3+ years' experience in the commercial fire and security market, including installation, service, and testing of commercial/industrial fire detection and suppression equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficient programming and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to use diagnostic tools such as multi-meters and programmers.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve the Company's overall goals.

Education & Training:
  • Participate in continuous education through Api Development Center including required and self-led course completion.
  • Acquisition of required NFPA, Manufacturer, NICET and safety training certificates as necessary.
  • Provide the job training of Grunau employees with a focus on improving their individual skill sets to better serve Grunau clients.
  • Provide technical support via phone, email, and in-person training to clients and Grunau employees alike.
  • End User Training sessions are an expected component of the high-level services system technicians provide to Grunau clients.
