SUMMARY

The Professional Engineer enhances the effectiveness of the forensic department by employing innovative thinking, solid forensic investigative techniques, sound concepts and designs in engineering and consulting services to a broad array of projects and clients.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serves as engineer in responsible charge of forensic engineering projects.
  • Provides litigation consulting and expert witness testimony.
  • Manages and conducts field reconnaissance for forensic engineering exploration projects.
  • Produces engineering reports utilizing the format(s) of Grindley Williams Engineering.
  • Communicates and meets with clients as necessary to maintain existing contacts and foster new relationship.
  • Provides quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews and internal peer reviews of engineering reports, plans, etc.
  • Consistently exercises superior judgment.
  • Conducts business travel in and out of the state for up to five (5) consecutive business days.
  • Possesses and maintains a valid drivers license and record that meets company guidelines.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A bachelors degree in engineering is required, along with a license as a professional engineer in Florida. Additional licenses in Texas, Georgia, and Louisiana are preferred. Proven multi-tasking capabilities and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and time demands in a fast-paced environment are required. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Experience with SalesForce software is preferred.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Reads, writes, and reviews with a high level of comprehension and attention to detail. Responds effectively to common inquiries from internal and external sources. Capably presents reports and information to colleagues and leaders as needed. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.


REASONING ABILITY

Defines problems, collects information, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Applies sound judgment and critical thinking skills to make decisions that align with company goals and values.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift a weight of fifty (50) pounds unaided; lift, erect and climb a ladder; maneuver on a rooftop, in an attic, and within a crawl space below a building. May sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Use of personal protective equipment such as respirator masks, harnesses, and specialized clothing, footwear, etc. is necessary. Use of basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodations, is necessary.
