Senior Project Manager
Crow Engineering
Biscoe, NC (Hybrid Travel Role)
About Crow Engineering
Crow Engineering is a multidisciplinary engineering, design, fabrication, and construction management firm serving the industrial manufacturing sector, with a primary focus in the lumber and wood products industry including sawmills, plywood, veneer, OSB, LVL, and related manufacturing facilities.
Our team delivers full design-build support ranging from conceptual development and budgeting through detailed engineering, fabrication support, installation coordination, and startup assistance. We work on complex industrial systems involving mechanical process equipment, structural systems, material handling, utilities, dust collection, controls integration, and facility expansions.
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to help lead multidisciplinary industrial projects from kickoff through execution while serving as a key client-facing leader within the company.
Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager will oversee industrial engineering and design-build projects with responsibilities spanning client management, project execution, budgeting, scheduling, multidisciplinary coordination, risk management, and internal team leadership.
This role requires a strong balance of technical understanding, leadership, communication, and business judgment. The ideal candidate has experience managing complex industrial or manufacturing projects involving multiple engineering disciplines and external vendors/contractors.
This is not a passive administrative PM role — this position is expected to actively drive project success, coordinate engineering execution, identify risks early, maintain client relationships, and help improve internal project delivery systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead industrial engineering and design-build projects from proposal handoff through closeout
- Manage project scope, schedule, budgets, staffing plans, and deliverables
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, structural, electrical/controls, and fabrication support
- Serve as primary client contact throughout project execution
- Facilitate internal project meetings and maintain accountability across teams
- Track engineering progress against schedules and deliverable milestones
- Identify project risks, resource constraints, and execution issues early
- Coordinate vendor communications, equipment reviews, and field activities
- Support proposal development, budgeting, and project planning efforts
- Review project financials including budget vs actual performance
- Assist with process improvement initiatives related to PM systems, standards, and execution consistency
- Travel to client sites for kickoff meetings, field verification, construction coordination, and relationship development
Preferred Experience
- 7+ years of project management experience in industrial, manufacturing, process, mechanical, or design-build environments
- Experience managing engineering-driven industrial projects
- Strong understanding of industrial facility workflows and equipment systems
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and client management skills
- Experience with industrial construction, fabrication, or installation coordination preferred
- Familiarity with sawmills, wood products, manufacturing, bulk material handling, process systems, or heavy industrial facilities is a major plus
Preferred Technical Background
Experience with some or all of the following is preferred:
- Industrial process systems
- Mechanical equipment/layouts
- Structural steel systems
- Material handling systems
- Dust collection and pneumatic conveying
- Utilities and process piping
- Construction coordination
- Industrial fabrication workflows
Software familiarity preferred:
- Smartsheet
- Microsoft Project
- Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Bluebeam Revu
- Deltek Ajera or similar ERP/project systems
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Takes ownership
- Communicates proactively
- Solves problems early instead of reacting late
- Can lead teams without micromanaging
- Understands how engineering, fabrication, and field execution connect together
- Is comfortable working directly with owners, operators, vendors, and contractors
- Wants to help build and improve systems — not just maintain them
