General Position Summary
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
Cowlitz County Prosecuting Attorney's Office
Great opportunity to develop exceptional litigation skills and join a talented group of attorneys who work with law enforcement to prosecute crimes and pursue justice for victims. Prosecutors in our office receive training and become proficient in all phases of criminal litigation, including:
  • Jury trials
  • Advising law enforcement on criminal investigations
  • Making charging decisions
  • Negotiating plea agreements
  • Representing the State at court hearings
  • Writing and arguing criminal appeals

Cowlitz County is a medium-sized county in southwest Washington offering many beautiful lakes, rivers, and access to Mt. St. Helens. Our county is located on the I-5 corridor bordering the Columbia River, 45 minutes north of Portland.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Law degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Admission to the Washington State Bar Association (at the time of employment).
